The School of Journalism and Communication offers four MA programs: Journalism, Communication, Brand Communication, and Intercultural Communication.

These 3-year academic research programs are based on the advantages of multi-disciplinary intersection at SCUT, supported by the studies of new media and big data, and boosted by the regional advantages from the state-strategy of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. The main academic features and fields of the Programs include data journalism, documentary studies, health communication, brand communication and computational advertising, international cultural communication, etc.

MA in Journalism and Communication (Professional Degree) offered by SCUT is a high qualification post-graduation program expand students' interdisciplinary knowledge and practical skills in the media industry. The program lasting 2 years including 1 year full-time courses，half a year corporate intern job and half a year masters dissertation. The program has been recruiting international students since 2017.
