The 12th National Advertising Art Design Competition for College Students 2020 has concluded recently. The School of Journalism and Communication is well-prepared for the competition, including organizing and encouraging professors and students to join the competition. In the 12th Competition, we have reaped a total of 14 provincial awards and 5 national awards, covering 4 different categories: graphic, film and television, short film and case planning. Professor Han Hongxing and Professor Zhang Buzhong win the Excellent Instructor awards.

On November 20th, the award ceremony of the 12th Competition (Guangdong Division) was held at the Guangzhou University Town Center Hotel. This year, a total of 100 colleges, 183 faculties, and 13,749 groups of works participated in the Guangdong Division. The number of works broke the record of previous years. After careful and rigorous deliberation and strict checks by experts and scholars, a total of 2362 groups of works were selected to participate in the competition for the National Award, including 370 first-prize groups, 782 second-prize groups, and 1210 third-prize groups, and 219 Excellent Instructor awards. Our school won 14 awards, including 3 first prizes, 5 second prizes and 6 third prizes.

Affected by the covid-19 pandemic at the beginning of 2020, this year's tournament is different from previous years. Online cooperation has brought obstacles in creative communication to a certain extent, but the enthusiasm of the students to participate in the competition has not diminished.

On the afternoon of November 28th, the exhibition ceremony of the 12th National Level Competition was held in Beijing Dongyi Tianhong Studio Hall. In this year's national competition, more than 530,000 works from 1,582 colleges and universities in 29 competition divisions competed in the same field. 30,589 groups of works were shortlisted for the national general review, and 1.12 million college students participated. Only more than 4,400 winning works were selected in the final national competition, and the winning probability was only 0.84%. In the fierce competition, a total of 5 works submitted from our school stood out and won 1 first prize, 2 second prizes and 2 excellence awards, which fully demonstrated the achievements of our school's practical teaching.

In recent years, our school has insisted on promoting learning through competition, integrating competition into teaching, and actively encouraging students to participate in subject competitions through policies such as exemption of registration fees and comprehensive evaluation, to nourish and stimulate students’ creative inspiration and effectively improve students’ application and practice ability. In the future, our school will continue to promote the in-depth integration of professional competitions and practical teaching, keep up with social development trends, enrich the teaching and training forms, and create compound talents with ingenuity, creativity, capability and skills.
