The School of Journalism and Communication actively responds to the major strategic needs of the country. For a long time, it has fully supported the cause of poverty alleviation and teaching support, and encouraged teachers and students to actively respond to the national call to bloom the flower of youth in the places where the motherland and the people need it most. In July 2019, Li Sha, an undergraduate from the class of 2019 at our school and a member of the school's 21st postgraduate SCUT teaching group, responded to the call of going to the west, to the grassroots, and to the place where the motherland needs it most and went to Longsheng, Guangxi for a volunteer teaching project at Longsheng Primary School to support local education. In May 2020, Li Sha had an accident on her way to a meeting and unfortunately passed away at the age of 21. Her beautiful youth was fixed in the depths of the mountains in Longsheng. The Lisha Spirit of having both ability and talents, optimism and tenacity, warmth and kindness, and cherishing the family and country has influenced more and more students, inspiring everyone to closely connect their future with the destiny of our country to open up new chapters of youth with arduous striving.

The Pioneering Dandelion team is mainly composed of students from the School of Journalism and Communication. It is a public service organization focusing on supporting education and poverty alleviation. Guided by the Li Sha Spirit as the spirit of the team and the project, the team has comprehensively upgraded the original public service model, unified and refined the experience, integrated and strengthened professional characteristics, and optimized support education services methods and models from multiple perspectives, levels, and all directions to effectively improve work efficiency and effects for various types of volunteer teaching projects at SCUT.

Under the guidance of the Li Sha Spirit, the Pioneering Dandelion team will not forget its original intention, keep forging ahead, and continue to spread hope in the places where our country needs it most.
