
Zheng Yudan
She previously served as Director of the Cultural News Department and Harbin News Department of the Life Daily under the Heilongjiang Daily Press Group, and Editor-in-Chief of Ice City Focus; Deputy Editor-in-Chief of New Metropolitan Daily and Secretary-General of the Journalism Sector of the Heilongjiang Provincial Youth Federation; Assistant Editor-in-Chief and Editorial Board Member of New Express under the Yangcheng Evening News Press Group. Dozens of her news articles have won national and provincial journalism awards. She was selected as one of the first batch of outstanding journalists in Heilongjiang Province and received the 8th Guangdong Provincial Outstanding Achievement Award in Philosophy and Social Sciences. She has published over 40 papers in journals such as Journal of Journalism and Communication Studies, Journal of Tsinghua University (Philosophy and Social Sciences Edition), and Jingshi Historical Review (English Edition). She has presided over projects funded by the National Social Science Fund, the Ministry of Education, Guangdong Social Sciences, and Guangzhou Social Sciences, and participated in several major National Social Science Fund projects. Her monographThe Disappearance of Private Newspapers in New China (Volumes 1 & 2) was included in the third series of "Collected Works on the History of Chinese Journalism"; Private Newspapers in New China (1949-1957) was included in the "Chinese Journalism Studies" series and received funding from the National Publication Fund. She serves as an expert reviewer for National Social Science Fund projects, Ministry of Education planning projects, initial evaluations of professional doctoral programs, doctoral dissertations, Guangdong Provincial Philosophy and Social Science Planning Projects, Guangdong News Awards, Guangdong Radio and Television Awards, China Daily University News Awards, and Guangzhou-Shenzhen Journalism Professional Title Evaluation. Her students have won the South China University of Technology's "Duxing Award," the China Daily University News Gold and Silver Awards, and the China Data Journalism Competition Award. Her undergraduate students have repeatedly won the South China University of Technology's Outstanding Thesis Award and have gone on to pursue further studies at prestigious universities such as Tsinghua University and the London School of Economics. Her graduate students have joined companies and institutions such as PwC, Tencent headquarters, Alipay headquarters, China Mobile, JD.com, Meituan, and BYD. She currently teaches courses such as Multimedia News Editing, Global History of News Communication, and Postgraduate Integrated Journalism Research. Her research interests include modern and contemporary news history from a global perspective, intercultural communication, media discourse, media objects, and intellectuals and media. She also manages the daily-updated academic research public account, "Danhuang Jiayi."
