In the evening of November 30th, the 7th graduate singing contest finals Sing in Huayuan was held at the University City Concert Hall. The contest was organized by the Graduate Youth League Committee and Graduate Student Association, and hosted by the Youth League branches of School of Journalism and Communication, School of Law, School of Economics and Trade. More than 300 faculty members and students watched the competition.
The singing contest set up mass-election race, upgrading match and Internet voting contest. Our school’s graduate student Yang Chen (2015 class), graduate students Li Chen and Li Siqing (2016 class) entered the final. At the first part of the final, 8 contestants were divided into four pairs and sang famous songs such as Lake Baikal, and Wandering, making the audience immerse in the music.
At the second round of concerts, eight players had come up with special skills. Li Siqing sang “Wind Ballet” with a dance, bringing a musical feast for the audience at present. Li Chen students soulfully sang You Must Be Happy, with plaintive melody and low magnetic voice, leading the audience to endless aftertastes. And Yang Chen appeared with a starry skirt. Singing the sporty Diamonds, Yang Chen designed a catwalk by five beautiful girls of our school. A SCUT version of Victoria's Secret Show lighted the game.
After 3 experts’ comprehensive evaluation and 20 public students’ voting, three students of our school entered the third round of the semifinals with their excellent performance. Finally, after fierce competition, Li Chen students won the first prize, Yang Chen got third and was awarded the most popular singer. Li Siqing got fifth. The game was youthful and passionate. Three graduate students of our school not only show full spirit, vibrant style, but also convey confidence to young people for their dreams. Three students’ wonderful performances are undoubtedly showing the spirit of our school to SCUT.
