On September 6th, the Guangdong Provincial Department of Education announced a list of the 2016 Pearl River scholars post programs and the cadidates of higher education schools in Guangdong province. At the end, Professor Jiang Jianguo of the school of journalism and communication won the title of the Pearl River scholar Distinguished Professor after the school recommendation, expert review and the notice period.

This is the first time that the Communication Theory,which is the second class discipline in the school of Journalism and communication has ever set as the e Pearl River scholar post, Professor Jiang Jianguo is the first winner. Professor Jiang Jianguo has the background of literature, history, philosophy and Journalism and communication. He is now engaged in teaching and research work of new media, media culture and the history of Journalism and communication. It is understood that this year, the Provincial Department of education has set up 72 posts of the Pearl River scholars in 21 universities, and has launched the appointment of the 21 Pearl River scholar Professors and 40 Pearl River young scholars. Our school has a total amount of 11 disciplines has set the post of the Pearl River scholars such as materials physics and chemistry, optics, communication science and others.Among them there are 6 distinguished professors and 3 Pearl River young scholars.
