Zhang Buzhong

Zhang Buzhong, male, from Dongtai, Jiangsu Province, received his PhD focusing in Film and Television Criticism in Nanjing Normal University. He is a visiting scholar, a professor of Communication and a doctoral supervisor at Communication University of China.
Prof. Zhang has served as the Vice Dean of the School of Humanities (Communication and Law) and the School of Arts at South China Agricultural University, and the Head of the Department of Audiovisual Communication at the School of Journalism and Communication in South China University of Technology. He is currently the director of the Documentary Film and Television Committee of the Chinese Collegial Association for Visual Art. His career mainly focuses on film and television communication research, and also involves film and television planning and scriptwriting, television program writing and directing, and creation of documentaries, public service advertisements, and micro-videos. In addition, he has done systematic research on TV in Guangdong and has been extensively involved in industry-related activities.

Publications
Prof. Zhang has published more than 70 papers, including 28 papers in CSSCI journals such as Modern Communication, Contemporary Cinema, China Television, TV Research, Editorial Friend, and Hundred Schools in Arts. One paper was reprinted in full by the NPC Reprographic Materials Journalism and Communication.
Projects
Prof. Zhang presided over one national social science project, two projects of National Radio and Television Administration, one social science project of Guangdong Province, and eight horizontal projects. He also participated in one project of the Counsellor's Office of Guangdong Provincial Government and wrote a report entitled Problems, Causes and Countermeasures Faced by Guangdong Province in Building a Healthy Internet Environment, which was read by the main Central leaders.
Awards and Accolades
1. 2009, Zhang directed Forgotten Lives, which won the Best Documentary Award nomination at the 6th Hawaii Film Festival, and the Second Prize in the 4th Kexun Cup National HD and DV Competition for Students of Normal Colleges and Universities;
2. 2010, Zhang directed Taipei, I Love You, which won the Best Director Award in the Amateur Category of the 17th Beijing College Student Film Festival, and the Second Prize of the 5th Kexun Cup National HD and DV Competition for Students of Normal Colleges and Universities;
3. 2015, Zhang directed Dad, I miss you, which won the first prize in the selection of outstanding works of promotion and ideological education in the national universities;
4. 2014, Zhang directed My Youth, My Village, which won the first prize in the Fifth Party Member Education Television Film Review in Guangzhou;
5. 2015, Zhang directed Li Guilin, A Police Volunteer, which won the first prize in the Sixth Party Member Education Television Film Review in Guangzhou;
6. 2016, Zhang directed Huo Jingchu, A Ninety-year-old Party Member Running in the Front Line of Education, which won the first prize in the seventh Party Member Education Television Film Review in Guangzhou;
7. 2017, Zhang directed Going Home, which won the first prize in the video category of the college student group of the 2017 Guangdong Provincial Radio and Television Excellence Public Service Announcement Procurement Project;
8. 2018, Zhang directed Life is not a Drama, which won the first prize in the first Guangdong Youth Original Outstanding 4K Micro Video and Public Service Advertisement Competition, and The Trial Meeting, won the First prize in the Microfilm category of the Eighth Shiyou Cup College Television Awards;
9. 2019, Zhang directed Dangerous Uninvited Guests in Malatang Safety Problems Can No Longer Be Tolerated, which won the first prize in the news category of the 9th China University Television Awards; The Chain of Interests Behind the Papers won the first prize in the feature category of the 9th China University Television Awards, and Final Justice won the first prize in the microfilm category of the ninth Shiyou Cup College Television Awards;
10. 2019, Zhang directed Small Half Bag, Big Care, which won the national silver medal in the Academy Award of Advertising Festival of Chinese College Students;
11. 2020, Zhang directed A Guide to Survival after Drinking, which won the Best Communication Award and the National Grand Prize of the Academy Award of Advertising Festival of Chinese College Students.
My Team
We are a team that values both theory and practice. Theoretical seminars start since the first day entering the team, and our students have published multiple papers on CSSCI journals. While conducting theoretical research, we also emphasize the extensive participation in creative practice. The team has won five consecutive national scholarships for postgraduate students since 2017.
