Sharp and humor coexisted, wisdom and grace co-occurrence. It was the scene of the freshman debate competition which belong to " Eternal flame inclined and the heart accompanied” series activities. At 6 pm, December 20th, the debate competition began. The game showed between 11 edit class and 11 advertisement class B, as well as 11 communication class and 11 advertisement class A. Jiahui Wan, Nan Zhou and Jin Xue were invited as judges who were the experienced debaters. Finally, the competition finished with 11 edit class and 11 advertisement class A passed to final, the best debaters were respectively Lixin Yang who was the fourth debater from 11 advertisement class B and Haisheng Zeng who was the first debater from 11 communication class.

  The first debate topic was “Whether love or bread is more important". Opening arguments, affirmative 11 edit class emphasized that love could make a person happy, but the opposite 11 advertisement class B demonstrated the bread was more helpful in the journey of life. In free debate session, the two sides all had a fantastic performance, not only argued against the opposite side but also highlighted its own point of view. The link of audience asking questions further increased the intensity of the debate. The fourth arguer of Affirmative Senlin Wang who came from 11 edit class quoted the lyric of a popular song named" Love Sale ", and also a famous phrase of an ancient poetry "hold your hand, and getting old together" to node argue, that brought the bursts of applause. According to the judges’ argument, affirmative 11 edit class was a stroke ahead, the best debater was the fourth arguer of defence side Lixin Yang who was from 11 advertisement class B.

  Another debate topic was “whether the successful man more comes from poor family". Affirmative 11 communication class was against the opposite 11 advertisement class A. After a highly general statement of Affirmative, both sides spread a fierce battle with flexible thinking and rigorous logic reasoning. The third arguer of Affirmative Wenshi Xie left a deep impression on the audience by quoted the sentence "the one who born with a silver spoon in his mouth has a background, but the pity dog come from the poor family only has back figure”. In the free debate, both debaters copiously quoted authoritative works which offered a wonderful thinking regalement to audience. After a short link of audience questioning, the fourth arguer of both sides sublimated their own views respectively, drew the game a satisfactory full stop. The judges commented to the contest, and nodded to the performance of each debater, and put forward some pertinent suggestions. Subsequently announced that 11 advertisement class A won, affirmative the first arguer Haisheng Zeng who came from 11 communication class got the best debater.

  The freshman debate competition provided a chance to freshman for exercising thinking and speech craft and cultivating team consciousness.
