They are learning talents, they obtain the various academic achievements with their own methods of learning, they make themselves even perfect, but they are not a group of stiff "nerd". Using the efficient and flexible way to enrich themselves is their flag. Recently, Siqin Cai, a senior student from the College of Communication accepted our interview and shared her learning experience to us.
“Increase value for ourselves."
Q: We all know you get a lot of honors and awards, and pay a lot for it. I want to know what kind of belief supports you so much in this process?
A: Siqin Cai (hereinafter abbreviated as A): Many college students are now hard to find a job, then how could you be different from others and more valuable than others? If you do not participate in those activities, your resume will be blank. Taking part in the activities is to add not only some content of your resume, but also their value. If other people want to see your ability but you can only say something with no certifications, you must fail in the interview. If you can bring out a number of achievements recognized, the result will be different. A lot of brothers and sisters have said that only getting a scholarship is not enough, social practice is more important, some companies still pay greater attention to all aspects of the certificate. For example, Do not think you’ve got a little bit understanding of Photoshop is enough for an interview. Just remember, everyone in the modern society only focus on your certificate.
Q: So, that is to say you are making yourself perfect in all aspects, right?
A: The photographic games I attended are completely my own homework, actually, we can ignore the homework, but why don’t we try our best to finish it and to see how well we can do it, and whether I can pass others’ test.
Q: What’s your idea when someone names you as "Elite", "Genius" and "Talent"?
A: I think that I shouldn’t be named as “Elite”, because as we know the Elite refer to those people who are especially powerful. You know that I have got the scholarship, and that is really not a big deal, it doesn’t deserve the interview. (Laughs)There should be a lot of students have awarded the scholarship and it is actually not a tough thing. We are college students, and for us, the different exams and the study are the basic tasks which we should finish, so making the study better is really not an incredible thing.
"Attitude adjusting"
Q: Have you been very dull or confused? How did you come out of it?
A: uh, I really had a great time in college, and get on well with the girls in the dorm and the class. We are even not homesick. Together with the lovely girls, we have been very happy every day. When we were in the dormitory or the classroom of high school, you would have a feeling of competing with each other, so communication with each other would be less than that now, and we might feel lonelier. Although we were chatting with each other all the time, there was still a gap between us, because everyone wants to learn more than the others. We might fell tired at that time.
Q: Have you ever had a period that you had no progress?
A: Of course I have, when I was in middle school, I had good grades but once I didn’t get a good score in maths. I was very nervous when I had maths exams from then on. And I even couldn’t fall asleep at the night before the exam. Maybe those are the most terrible days, however, I tried my best to get the situation better. As I had got a little progress, I would have more confidence, then, I did my study better and better.
“About the future”
Q: What is your future plan? Which is your choice, going abroad, taking part in the entrance exams for postgraduate schools or working?
A: I intend to take part in the exam in Hong Kong, and it is easy to apply. You just need to pass the interview or something like that.
Q: Then do you have some problems about the language?
A: ah, you know I was born in Zhuhai, so it is not a problem for me to speak Cantonese. They asked for the IELTS or TOEFL score, and I am preparing for the TOEFL test now. At the same time, people taking part in the entrance exams for postgraduate schools are more than before, there are 3 girls in my dorm are going to take part in it.
Q: What is your opinion about your major, "communication"?
A: Actually, at the beginning, I thought this major would have some relation with television broadcasting, hosting or journalists which are more professional. But I can clearly remember that the first class I have had here introduced the major about more theoretical things. In China (the) subject was not long established, involving the humanities, philosophy, etc., they are very complex, so the whole thing is unlike what I thought. At the voluntary reporting time, I was a science student, and wanted to report about science and engineering as my major. But not all the things would go well, and at last I came to this college and was glad to be here. Dad wanted me to learn the law, I thought the law is too boring, and I had to learn every sentence in the book by heart. However, the major of Journalism and Communication is totally different; it is more practical, more interesting and free. So I'm glad that I did not go to the law college.
