The project "Research and application of naked 3D printing technology", led and developed by Professor Chen Guangxue, won the second prize of Science and Technology of China Packaging Federation in 2017. The project was jointly developed by South China University of Technology and Shenzhen YuTo Packaging Technology Co., Ltd, which broke through many technical difficulties of 3D printing and promoted the overall upgrading of 3D printing technology level. China Packaging Federation is one of the national industry associations established by the State Council and has extensive influence in China and the international packaging industry. The "Science and Technology Award of China Packaging Federation" is the award that is authorized to review by the National Science and Technology Award Office. It is known as "the highest scientific and technological award in the packaging industry of China". It aims to promote the technological development and innovation of the packaging industry, mobilize the enthusiasm and creativity of the scientists and technicians in packaging industry, and speed up the development of science and technology in packaging industry. In this year, 38 awards have been issued after strict comparison and evaluation, and the "Research and application of naked eye 3D printing technology" project won the second prize.
The naked eye 3D can display a realistic stereoscopic image with space depth and suspended in the paper surface by using the eye parallax characteristics, under the condition of naked eye (no helmet, polarizer and other auxiliary equipment). Naked eye 3D display has the characteristics of real, three-dimensional, no need to wear special glasses and so on. It has excellent effect in improving visual communication effect. Microlens technology is used in the project to overcome series problems of traditional 3D printing, such as small angle, shallow depth of field, and unclear effect of 3D. The obtained 3D printing products have realized the 3D effect of 360 degree continuous large depth of field depth. The naked eye 3D printing products hatched by the project not only have good stereoscopic vision, bring consumers beautiful enjoyment, but also have some anti-counterfeiting functions, and increase the multiple added value of printed packaging products. The techniques have been applied in related enterprises and achieved remarkable economic and social benefits.
