The finals of the Fifteenth “Challenge Cup: China Bank National Extracurricular Academic Works of Science and Technology of Undergraduates” competition was successfully closed in Shanghai University in the night of November 18th, 2017. Among all 6 selections from South China University of Technology, we won one first-class prize, three second-class prizes and two third-class prizes. One undergraduate project which was supervised by Professor Gang Chen and Zhiqiang Fang from our school was awarded with second-class prize.
The competition insisted to take Five Development Ideas as direction, based on the National Strategy and construction of the center of Shanghai Science and Innovation，it proposed the ideas in this competition which were “Innovation, Open, Collaboration and Leading”. There were over 2 million undergraduates from more than 2000 universities in China participated in this competition. After provincial competition, national preliminary evaluation and review, there were overall 755 projects from 314 universities entered the finals.
The university put a lot of concerns to scientific innovations and entrepreneurial activities for students, and gave great supports from all aspects for the competition including enhancement of top-design, resource integration of all departments, introduction of pertinent policy as well as logistics support service after competition. The vice-president of our university, Zheng Li, was also presented in the competition in Shanghai to cheer-up all participants of the competition from our university. He encouraged students to have self-confidence and show the strength and superiority of the university during the defense process.

We must hold the persistence and confidence, have a modest attitude and go forward in a way of study and development”, this is the voice of the students from their heart. It is also the true portrayal of the students from our university who were fighting for good achievements in the competition.
