time: 2026-01-08

On the evening of November 6, Lecture No. 148 of the Master-Forum on Marxist Theory was held in Room 102A of the School of Marxism, South China University of Technology. Professor Liu Honglin, Dean of the Institute for the Study of the History and Building of the Communist Party of China at Fudan University, delivered a report titled “The Practice and Realization Mechanism of Institutional Strengths”. The lecture was chaired by Professor Xie Lixia, Dean of the School of Marxism at SCUT, and was attended by faculty and student representatives from the school.

At the beginning of the lecture, Professor Liu Honglin opened with the word “question”, pointing out that students in Marxism programs commonly lack a sense of problem awareness and struggle to open up their thinking in writing. He encouraged students to learn how to keep asking questions, using “China’s institutional strengths” as an example to further explore a series of questions: What exactly are China’s institutional strengths? How were they formed? What is the relationship between these strengths and the Communist Party of China? And how can they be converted into governance effectiveness?

Professor Liu Honglin connected his analysis to the 15th Five-Year Plan, examining key dimensions such as “the relationship between ideology and political parties”, “the relationship between institutions and institutional strengths”, “the main manifestations of the strengths of the socialist system”, “the political guarantee of institutional strengths and the leadership of the Party”, and “the organizational foundation and guarantee of Party leadership”. He provided a profound analysis of the origins, foundational underpinnings, and mechanisms of realization of China’s institutional strengths, delivering a rich and insightful report that masterfully integrated theoretical rigor with practical relevance.

On behalf of the faculty and students, Dean Xie Lixia expressed heartfelt gratitude to Professor Liu Honglin for his outstanding lecture. She emphasized that this academic exchange highlighted the importance of cultivating problem awareness and grasping the logical structure behind issues in the process of academic research, providing methodological guidance for faculty and students in selecting research topics and writing academic papers.
