Social Work Research Center Held Series of Academic Reports

In order to further implement the spirit of the governor's meeting,“innovative social management system”, Social Work Research Centerof South China University of Technology,onSeptember 20th, held the lecture series, entitled “Social Governance Innovation and Development of Social Work”in Building 5,201Auditorium. Inviting Professor Wang Sibin, president of the China Association of Social work Education, president of the China society of Social Work, and head of the Department of Applied Social Sciences; Hong Kong Polytechnic University Professor Ye Fuqiang; Professor Huang Hongfu, director of Social Work Department of Graduates of Hong Kong Chinese University made their reports, entitled "Social work and Social Development Governance Innovation", "Social Development Policies and Social Institutions", "Interaction and Development of the Mainland and Hong Kong Social work: A Review". The academic reports, as to the first social work postgraduates, teachers and co-workers engaged in social work from the Pearl River Delta region were wonderful academic feast.Symposium hosted by the Xie Lixia, the vice president of Marxism, and Social Work Research Center director.

Professor Wang Sibin: Social Management Innovation and Social Work Development

Taking comprehensively reforms and social management innovation as background, Professor Wang believed in our country from the social management to the process of social governance, the nature of Social Workand Social Administration was highly fit. He analyzed the relationship between governance and social work, which involved in governance pedigree structure, pointed out five innovations to promote social (philosophy, methodology, objectives, mechanisms and institutional). Professor Wang through tension and rational choice from participation of socialwork, analyzed that social workers needed to strengthen capacity, required honesty and innovation, and stressed that handle relationship between professional social work and the local social work practice, for embedded development of social work.

Ye Fuqiang: Social Policy and Institution of Social Work Development

Professor Ye Fuqiang analyzed the relationship between social work and social policy. He thought that social work was human service, and profession of social work reflected in ASK mode(Attitude / Skill / Knowledge). He analyzed from the two policies(public policy andsocial policy), and pointed out the close relationship between social work and social policy. Besides, Professor Ye analyzed the relationship between social workers, social policy and social institutions. He believed that the current social institutions faced two major challenges(environmentaland ecological upheaval), social workers should dodiversified target preparation,and concerned about the opportunities and challenges brought about by the new policy. At the same time, social workers should update ASK mode with the times. Finally, he pointed out, in face of new environment and new challenges, social workers, social policies and social work organizations were supposed to implement a new cycle.

Huang Hong: A Review and Version of Interaction and Development between the Mainland and Hong Kong Social Work

Vice professor Huang Hong analyzed, under the Chinese context, what “localization” and “professional”of social work meant, as well as their advantages and disadvantages. He analyzed from the Chinese social(helping) system structure, pointed out the fundamental nature of the local social: “administrative and semi-professional”. When faced with new changes in the process of urbanization, China's social work needed to screen native and non-native value useful elements, through the practice to diversify exploration. Finally, in social development interaction between Hong Kong and the mainland, the mainland should import western social work theory, started professional social work rather than professional exam.

Three academic reports aroused classmates and co-workers a strong response. They did in-depth exchanges and discussions with experts and scholars on difficult issues and cutting-edge issues of social development. (Figure /Zhang Peng Text/Liu Sicong)
