Category Profile:

General Engineering Major Bundle (Interdisciplinary Innovation Class of Science and Engineering) of South China University of Technology is a newly established characteristic class in 2025. Relying on the Baibuti Innovation College, it aims to cultivate interdisciplinary and composite innovative talents. It adopts the 1+3+X (Bachelor-Master: X≥2, Bachelor-Doctor: X≥4) training model. In the first year, general education is carried out, and subsequently, students can choose subject directions according to their interests and carry out professional diversion, covering three majors: Applied Physics (Yan Jici Innovation Class), Top Students' Training Base in Chemistry, and Engineering Mechanics (Innovation Class). The class implements a full-member tutor system, providing one-on-one academic, research, and career planning guidance; it carries out small-class teaching, strengthens research orientation, and encourages students to participate in cutting-edge projects. With an interdisciplinary background in science and engineering and innovative capabilities, students can engage in scientific research, technological development, teaching, and management work in related disciplinary fields.

Education Characteristics:

Focusing on the interdisciplinary integration of science and engineering, we have built a cross-disciplinary curriculum platform centered on Applied Physics, Applied Chemistry, and Engineering Mechanics. Initially, we strengthen disciplinary foundations, enabling students to broaden the depth and breadth of their knowledge through multidisciplinary convergence; this approach adapts to their individualized learning pace, meets diverse developmental needs, and lays a solid foundation for long-term growth. Subsequently, through rigorous training within our specialized education system, we cultivate top innovative talents with integrated science-engineering expertise who possess a firm belief in socialism, achieve well-rounded development (moral, intellectual, physical, aesthetic, and labor education), demonstrate solid theoretical knowledge and strong practical abilities, excel at integrating science and engineering disciplines, maintain both global perspectives and deep roots in their homeland, master the three key competencies (learning, thinking, and execution), and are prepared to scale new heights in global science and technology as future leaders.

After confirming their diversion majors, students enter the professional cultivation stage. The General Engineering Major Bundle (Interdisciplinary Innovation Class of Science and Engineering) has three professional education and cultivation channels, mainly for the following majors:
