AbstractThe multifunctional imaging / drug-carrying system (theranotics) can carry both the imaging probe and the drug component simultaneously. The purpose of this system is to carry out individualized diagnosis and treatment for patients with different diseases, and to monitor the curative effect simultaneously. The main significance of the imaging function of the nano-carrier is to observe the targeting delivery effect and the distribution of the main organs of the drug carrier in order to improve the design of the drug carrier, optimize the drug delivery effect and ultimately improve the therapeutic effect. Our research group has carried out some exploratory basic research work in this field: A series of nanoprobes for tumor imaging and therapy were prepared (Adv Mater 2015, NAT Commun 2016, SCI Adv 2016, angelw Chem 2017), and biomimetic nanodrug delivery vector were prepared (PNAS 2015, ACS Nano 2016, Adv Mater 2018, JACS 2018). The report will focus on the design and construction of multi-functional biomimetic nanoprobes and their applications in biomedical research.

Biography: Dr. Gang Liu is a professor at Xiamen University in China. He received his MD degree from North Sichuan Medical College (China) in 2002 and PhD degree from Sichuan University (China) in 2009. Subsequently, He focused his training on nanomedicine and molecular imaging at the National Institutes of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering (NIBIB), National Institutes of Health (NIH) under the supervision of Dr. Xiaoyuan Chen (2009-2011). In 2012, Dr. Liu joined the Center for Molecular Imaging and Translational Medicine (CMITM), Xiamen University. He is now working in the field of Biomedical Engineering to develop various bio-inspired nanomaterials for cancer theranostic. His scientific work has been published as 75 papers in prestigious journals (Adv. Mater., Account Chem. Res., ACS Nano, Angew. Chem. Int. Ed., Biomaterials, Biotechnol. Adv., Chem. Soc. Rev., Nano Today, Nat. Commun., Small, etc.), 8 invited book chapter, and 7 patents. The awards he received include IMRC Outstanding Symposium Paper (Materials Research Society, 2008), Distinguished Young Investigator Award (Sichuan Province, 2011), Youth Science and Technology Award (Sichuan Province, 2011), Natural Science Award (First-class, Sichuan Province, 2012), New Century Excellent Talents in University Award (Fujian Province, 2013), New Century Excellent Talents in University Award (Ministry of Education of China, 2013), Excellent Young Scientists (NSFC, 2014). Now he is serving as editorial board members for several journals including Am J Nucl Med Mol Imaging and Quant Imaging Med Surg.
