Introduction

Nanomedicine Laboratory of  the South China University of technology has focused on the studies of tumorigenesis and tumor progression, as well as the research and development (R&D) of novel antitumor therapies through the exploitation of biodegradable polymer materials for pharmaceutical nanobiomaterials and nanoparticle-based drugs (nanodrugs), in the hope of seeking more clinically-relevant and efficacious therapeutic treatments for various malignant tumors. Our team has been focusing on the controllable synthesis of biomedical materials and preparation of nano drug carriers, tumor microenvironment sensitive nano drugs, regulation and intervention of nano drugs on tumor microenvironment, RNA interference therapy based on nanotechnology, molecular imaging and immunotherapy.

Currently the Laboratory staff generally consists of four professors, including the winners of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, the winners of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, and the winners of the Guangdong Provincial Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, as well as the associate professors, lecturers, postdoctoral researchers and other researchers. There are 25 PHD students and 48 postgraduates in the research group. Our team has been successively supported by National Key R & D Plan, National Natural Science Foundation, General Program and Youth Program, Guangdong innovation and entrepreneurship team, science fund for Distinguished Young Scholars of NSFC, science fund for Distinguished Young Scholars of NSFC, and outstanding youth program of Guangdong Province. Our Laboratory has solid foundations and advanced facilities for the research and development of polymeric biomaterials, nanodrugs and pharmaceutics, cell and molecular biology, biomedical engineering and experimental animal-based in vivo studies.

The Laboratory has published over 200 papers in a variety of peer-reviewed international Journals since 2006, including Nature CommunicationsScience Translational Medicine, Nano Letters, Angew Chem Int Ed, J Am Chem Soc, Advanced Materials, ACS Nano, J Controlled Release, Biomaterials, etc. Our research has won the first prize of Natural Science Award of Ministry of Education (the second affiliation) , the first prize of Natural Science Award of Guangdong Province (the second affiliation) and the second class National Natural Science Award(the second affiliation).
