On the morning of November 20th, the former deputy minister of Education Lin Huiqing as well as others surveyed the School of Mecidine, South China University of Technology. The principal Gao Song and vice-principal Li Weiqing accompanied the survey. Lin Huiqing and others visited the Magnetic resonance imaging laboratory, Zebra Fish scientific research platform, the lab of the evolutionary biology team, and listened to the report of the construction of the school of medicine by the principal of the college.

Gao Song thanked Lin Huiqing for her long-term attention and support for the School of Medicine of the South China University of Technology and introduced the fundamental situation of the college and the practice school has made in the aspect of extending the biological subject. Gao Song stated that the college made use of the school’s excellent advantages in sciences, representing the characteristic of "combination of medical and science"and great potential. The school has always paid great attention to and supported the development of the medical college, and will also increase the support for the biological subject in the future especially in the Fourteenth Five-Year Plan. And we hoped that the Ministry of Education will offer more guidance and help in the aspect of cultivating undergraduate and postgraduate education to the medical college of the South China University of Technology.

Lin Huiqing demonstrated her appreciation for the construction achievements of the medical college. She considered that the South China University of Technology located the medical college as high-grade, precise and advanced, focusing on significant problems with clear goals and constructive path. The South China University of Technology built up the school of medicine seizing the historical opportunity and has laid a solid foundation in the past six years. She hoped that the university could be devoted to developing the medical college during the Fourteenth Five-Year Plan, utilizing the characteristics of “combination of medical and engineering”, "research-based" and so on. Besides, the university is also supposed to solidify the foundation especially, propel the reform of the medical teaching system, endeavoring to cultivate the youths of the age. Lin hoped that the university could make use of the opportunity that the nation propels the medical teaching to innovate, contrive properly and act positively, endeavoring to achieve the institutional innovation, meeting the regional demands positively, getting to the situation of all-win, striving to put the School of Medicine onto the list of cooperation by province and ministry. 

Representative from the principals of Department of Agriculture and Medicine, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education and General Office of the Student Department of the Ministry of Education, the human resources office of the university, and school of medicine took part in the survey.

According to the introduction, the School of Medicine of the South China University of Technology has made great progress since its establishment in September 2014. It now owns two affiliated hospitals and two postgraduate-cultivation hospitals, and its clinical medicine has been on the ESI top 1%. In 2019, the clinical undergraduate program was ratified and started to enroll students, in 2020 the master's degree of clinical medicine passed the special assessment of the Ministry of Education. The teaching staff especially the high-level talents team has made excellent constructive achievements, with the internal students reaching 844. Insisting on the cultivating concept of "combination of medical and engineering", the school of medicine endeavored to solidify the medical foundation, take serious measures in the process of cultivating students, positively extend the application of the double- or triple-mentor systems, further promote the students’ innovative qualities through the "combining medical and engineering" salon and various venture contests, attempting to cultivate the outstanding talents with compound capacities. In the latest two National Basic Medical Experiment Skill Innovation Competitions, the students have gained the first prize for one time, the second prize for two times, the third prize for one time. And the students have published articles in the leading magazines such as Journey of Clinical Oncology and so on, which indicated that the college has entered the track of rapid development.
