In the afternoon of May 24, 2021, academician Meng Anming from the School of Life Sciences of Tsinghua University gave an academic report entitled "the role of oogenesis factor in embryo development" in room B2-335. Vice president Zhang Wenqing presided over the report meeting. More than 100 teachers and students from Sun Yat-sen University, Southern Medical University, South China Normal University, Guangdong Pharmaceutical University, Guangdong Medical University and other universities attended the meeting.

Academician Meng Anming has been engaged in the basic research of developmental biology for a long time, mainly using zebrafish as the model organism. In the report, academician Meng Anming introduced the important role of developmental factors from maternal sources in embryonic development. Among them, Hwa gene can control the formation of tissue center through β- Catenin, and then regulates the formation of body axis. Egg derived factors Ndr1 and Ndr2 can regulate the formation of endoderm and mesoderm. In addition, academician Meng Anming also introduced some work still in submission, including the function of nuclear pore complex in regulating genome activation and the effect of polar body on embryonic development.

Academician Meng not only had academic exchanges with teachers and students on scientific issues, but also answered the students' questions in the process of learning and scientific research, such as the connection between medicine and biology and how to develop scientific research thinking, which provided valuable learning suggestions for the students present. After the report, the students said that academician Meng's academic report is very advanced and rich in content. The teachers thought that he is modest and approachable, scientific and rigorous, and made outstanding achievements, he is a model for teaching and educating indeed.
