The medical school selects the first batch of students for the University of Western Australia summer exchange program

On the afternoon of March 6, medical school holds an interview for the 2019 summer exchange program in the University of Western Australia, at conference room B2-513. A total of 25 students participates in the interview after free application and preliminary screening of the college. The interview judges include He Doqing, party secretary,Liu Jia, vice president, Cao Jiafu, deputy party secretary, and two teachers, Zhang Xiaoqin and Shan Jiajie.

In the interview, the students need to introduce themselves in English, and then the judges ask questions and give scores. In addition to examining their professional knowledge and English level, the judges also ask them about their preparation for participating in this project and their original intention of applying. Students attach great importance to this project and have made full preparations. They can speak English fluently and answer questions smoothly. They are looking forward to participating in overseas exchanges through this precious opportunity,and hoping to expand their horizons. Also, they want to experience different cultures, learn from foreign advanced medical technologies and enrich their own knowledge system.

It is reported that after the final list is confirmed, students will go to Australia for a 5-week course exchange study this summer. In addition to the implementation of student affairs, the leading teachers are also making plans for various specific matters, and they will participate in a series of professional training in the middle of March, to ensure a successful trip of our undergraduate students for the first time.

Since its establishment, the medical college has attached great importance to the internationalization, and actively conducted exchanges and cooperation with overseas universities and research institutes in the field of personnel training and scientific research. From the beginning of 2016, the vice president of the university of western Australia, the minister of education and training of the state in western Australia, and the deputy dean of the medical school of university of western Australia, have visited our medical school for several times and discussed the establishment of a long-term stable cooperative relationship. In July 2016, our medical school and the university of western Australia jointly established the South China University of Technology - University of Western Australia joint research center for regenerative medicine, and formally signed the student summer exchange program agreement in January 2019. In the future,  our medical school will conduct more in-depth cooperation with the University of Western Australia in terms of faculty exchange visits, long-term student exchanges, research and transformation.
