On May 13, 2019, professor Howard Bauchner, editor-in-chief of the Journal of The American Medical Association (JAMA), one of the four leading international Medical journals, is invited to our medical college to present a report entitled Data Sharing and Preprint Servers: Evolving Issues in Medical. The meeting is presided over by Yu Xueqing, dean of medical college. The teachers and students in medical college attend the meeting. .

Yu xueqing, on behalf of the college, extends a warm welcome to the guests and delivers a speech. He points out that in addition to early contact with society, early contact with clinical practice and early contact with scientific research, medical students should also early contact with outstanding scientists, outstanding clinicians and editors of well-known journals to broaden their horizon and lay a good foundation for their clinical and scientific research in the future.

Howard Bauchner talks about the transformation of traditional journals by changing the way information is transmitted in modern society. He compares the development of traditional and Open Access journals, and the popularity of Preprint, which is available online before some articles are published. Meanwhile, “Data sharing” is also becoming a trend. He notes that many leading international journals now recommend that clinical trial researchers publish and share all the data, and when that data is Shared, research groups around the world will have different insights. As a result, more valuable achievements will emerge.

About the speaker:

Howard Bauchner, MD, is Editor-in-Chief of JAMA and the JAMA Network. He became the 16th editor of JAMA in July 2011. He completed his undergraduate training at the University of California, Berkeley, in 1974, and graduated from Boston University School of Medicine in 1979. He completed his pediatric residency at Boston City and Yale-New Haven Hospitals and was a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Fellow in General Pediatrics at Yale. He joined the faculty at Boston University School of Medicine in 1986, was promoted to Associate Professor in 1990, and to Professor in 1997. He became a member of the Society for Pediatric Research in 1996 and the American Pediatric Society in 2001. He is an Honorary Fellow of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health.
