During the talks, Zhang Xichun welcomes the visit of the Suzanne Ellery delegation on the occasion of the 65th anniversary school celebration. He introduces to the guests about school running level and characteristics, personnel training, research and achievement transformation, exchange and cooperation with Australia, and the construction of Guangzhou International Campus. Zhang Xichun says that with the support of the Ministry of Guangdong education and Guangzhou education, the construction of Guangzhou International Campus has been carried out smoothly, providing a new platform for South China University of Technology to carry out high-quality international exchanges and cooperation, and adding new strength to the double first class construction of the school. The school has broad prospects for development, and is well aware of its responsibilities. Zhang Xichun hopes to deepen cooperation with the University of Western Australia, and welcomes further cooperation with more Australian universities.
Suzanne Ellery says that the Western Australian government attaches great importance to the exchange and cooperation with China, so it is the first choice to visit China after the exchange of government departments. She appreciates the achievements in the development of the South China University of technology, the University of Western Australia and says it would do its utmost to support China to carry out more extensive cooperation.
The two sides focus on the Guangzhou international school issues and the progress of the Chinese and Australian colleges. Later, under the witness of Zhang Xichun and Suzanne Ellery, Qiu Xueqing and Iain Watt, vice president of the University of Western Australia jointly signs the student short-term communication project cooperation agreement and the medical school cooperation intention letter.
Before the meeting, Yu Qijun, Qiu Xueqing and the the University of Western Australia hold a working meeting on the school of marine science and engineering of the Guangzhou International Campus.
After the signing of the agreement, Qiu Xueqing accompanies the West Australian delegation to the Sino-Australian students' meeting. The 109 new students from the first group of Chinese and Australian classes from the environment, software and electricity major interact with the delegation.
The head of the international exchange and cooperation department, the dean's office, the International Affairs Office of Guangzhou, the civil and Transportation College, the electric power college, the environment and energy college, the software college and the medical school attend the activities.
