On December 6, the 9th China International Student Innovation Competition (2023) National Final was held at Tianjin University. Yan Xiao, a doctoral student in the School of Materials Science and Engineering, won the gold medal in the Industrial Proposition Track with his project Haowei New Material - Pilot of Heat Conducting and Wave Absorbing Integrated Interface Material, which stood out among 1260 projects. This is a breakthrough for School of Materials Science and Engineering in this track.

Thermal conductive and wave-absorbing interface materials are guaranteed to meet the needs of electronic equipment for efficient heat dissipation and electromagnetic protection and to ensure the reliable operation of key core devices. The team's project Haowei New Material - Pilot of Thermal Conductivity and Wave Absorption Integrated Interface Material aims to develop an interface material with high thermal conductivity and strong wave-absorbing performance, which can be applied in aerospace, electronic information, new energy and other fields, solving the contradictions and limitations of the traditional materials in the thermal conductivity and wave-absorption, and realizing the interface material of thermal conductivity and wave-absorption as wide, strong, light, and thin.

China International Student Innovation Competition is an international innovation and entrepre
neurship event organized by the Ministry of Education and other departments with the theme of I Dare, I Will Create. The competition consists of three levels: school-level preliminary rounds, provincial rounds, and the grand final. The preliminary rounds are organized by universities, the provincial review rounds are organized by localities, and the grand final rounds are recommended by localities according to the quota set by the organizing committee of the competition. Projects selected for the finals will be evaluated and selected to enter the finals on-site competition, which will determine the awards for each category.
