On December 29, the 2023 Work Summarization Conference of the School of Materials Science and Engineering(SMSE) was held in N308 Lecture Hall. The school leaders and the person in charge of the national platform reported to all the faculty and staff of the school the work summary for 2023 and the work planning for the next year.Xuehui Li, Dean of the School of Light Industry and Engineering, Bo Li, Xiangyang Feng, Wenyong Lou,and 207 faculty and staff of SCUT attended the meeting. 

First of all, Professor Baochun Guo, Dean of the College, reported to all the faculty and staff on the achievements and progress made by the school in 2023. He pointed out that the school adhered to the mission of educating people for the party and the country, implemented the mission of establishing moral education, accelerated the construction of first-class colleges and first-class disciplines, and vigorously promoted the high-quality development of education, science and technology, and talents in 2023. In the coming year, the school  will further deepen the construction of the party organization of the college, strengthen the construction of master + team, explore the innovative ideas of talent cultivation, organize scientific and technological innovation to lead the research, build a new model of industry-university-research synergy, optimize the public service, and continue to do a solid and deep work.

The Party Committee of SMSE adheres to Xi Jinping's thought of socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new era as a guide, focuses on the fundamental task of establishing moral education and the innovation of party building, fulfills the main responsibility of party building, implements the comprehensive and strict governance of the party, unites teachers, students, and staff, and promotes the high-quality development of education, science and technology, and talents, and has achieved remarkable results. In the next step, the Party Committee of SMSE will earnestly implement the decision of the party committee of the university, and contribute to the construction of the double first-class of the university.

Next, Professor Liuzhang Ouyang, Shijian Su, Anze Shui, Gang Wu, Shuli Peng, and Deputy Secretary Xiaofang Zhao made reports on the work of postgraduate teaching and cultivation, scientific research and academic exchanges, undergraduate teaching and cultivation, laboratory management, the work of the school office, and the work of the students. Chen Zhao, administrative deputy director of the State Key Laboratory of Luminescent Materials and Devices, and Zhiwen Zheng, administrative deputy director of the National Human Tissue Function Reconstruction Engineering Research and Technology Center, respectively introduced the development status of national platforms and the work achieved in 2023.

In the new year, the leadership team of the School and all the people of SMSE are united to contribute the strength of SMSE to accelerate the construction of a world-class university.
