On December 17, 2020, the second Academic Committee Meeting of Guangdong Provincial Key Laboratory of Luminescence from Molecular Aggregates was held in Room W301, Building of State Key Laboratory of Luminescent Materials and Devices, South China University of Technology (SCUT).

The meeting consisted of six sessions, including opening speech, annual summary, group photo, academic exchange, discussion, and concluding speech. Xinghua Jiang, Deputy Chief of Science and Technology Division, SCUT, Yongfang Li, Academician and Director of the Academic Committee, Xiyun Yan, Academician and Deputy Director of the Academic Committee, Benzhong Tang, Academician and Deputy Director of the Academic Committee, Professor Guangzhao Zhang, Professor Haiping Xia, Professor Dan Li, Professor Weihua Li, Professor Dongge Ma, Professor Shuizhu Wu and other committee members and members of the laboratory attended the meeting.

Xinghua Jiang, the Deputy Chief of Science and Technology Division, SCUT welcomed all the attendees, and introduced the background and members of the Academic Committee at the beginning of the meeting. Professor Min Zhu, Vice President of SCUT made a year-end summary on the academic achievements and the progress that SCUT has made. He expressed heartfelt thanks to all the leaders and experts for their continued support to SCUT and also hoped that all the leaders and experts could make greater contributions to China's independent innovation ability as well as technological advancement in the field of luminescence from molecular aggregates.

Afterwards, Professor Anjun Qin, Deputy Director of the laboratory, highlighted the work and results achieved during 2020 by the laboratory. Academician Yongfang Li presided over the academic exchange session. Members of the Academic Committee, Professor Junpeng Zhao, Professor Guangxue Feng, and Dr. Rong Hu, gave presentations respectively on selective and simple synthesis of functionalized polyethers, nano-probes with aggregation-induced emission (AIE), and AIE polymers for biological imaging and treatment. They discussed on the applications for 2020 open fund projects of Guangdong Provincial Key Laboratory of Luminescence from Molecular Aggregates, and a total of 34 applications have been received this year, of which 12 have been approved by the committee, with a fund of RMB 20,000 for each.

At the end of the meeting, Benzhong Tang made his concluding remarks and expressed thanks to the attendees in the hope that all members of the laboratory could make use of this precious opportunity to learn more from other experts, realize innovation through collaboration, and make joint efforts for the construction of the laboratory.

Through this meeting, all the attendees had an in-depth understanding of the construction of the Guangdong Provincial Key Laboratory of Luminescence from Molecular Aggregates. It provided a platform for communication and exchanges, giving constructive opinions and suggestions on the development of the laboratory.
