Appointment Ceremony for Professor Gang Yu, Consultant of AMAT, held in SMSE

On the morning of March 17, the appointment ceremony for Mr. Gang Yu, Consultant of AMAT, was held in the conference hall of National Key Laboratory of Luminescent Materials and Devices. Professor Junbiao Peng, Dean of SMSE, awarded Professor Yu a special certificate of Lecture Professor of South China University of Technology. Academician Yong Cao, Professor Yuguang Ma, Director of the Laboratory, and more than 60 teachers and students attended the ceremony.

Professor Yu is mainly engaged in the development of organic electronic devices and metal oxide semiconductor devices, and specializes in flat panel display and process/device integration on flexible substrates. He is the main inventor of bulk heterojunction organic solar cells and a pioneer in the field. His related research papers have been cited tens of thousands of times. He was the founder, CTO and board member of CBRITE, being responsible for technology development, planning, initiation, execution and patent layout. He invented a series of high performance metal oxide thin film transistors (MOTFT) and has obtained many international patents. He is the main researcher and director of many governmental and commercial projects. Professor Yu has been active in both academia and industry for a long time and held unique views on the frontier of science and technology and the marketization of emerging technologies.

 

  

 

Academic report

After the ceremony, Professor Yu made a wonderful academic report for the teachers and students of SMSE on All-weather, Three-dimensional Imaging of High-performance Short-wave Infrared (1-1.4 micron) Organic Photodiodes and High Pixel Density Detector Arrays. Professor Yu’s research on three-dimensional active infrared sensing system has aroused great interests of participants. Many young teachers exchanged and interacted with Professor Yu after the report.
