The Ministry of Science and Technology announced the list of people who are chosen to join the Innovation Talents Promotion Project in 2013. Prof. ZHANG Qinyuan from School of Materials Science and Engineering was selected as young and middle-aged innovative talent leaders in science and technology. Meanwhile, South China University of Technology was selected as the demonstration base for cultivating high quality innovative talents.
The Innovative Talents Promotion Plan was initiated in 2011 according to the Long-term Talent Development Plan (2010-2020), which includes the establishment of scientists workshops, the cultivation of young and middle-aged innovative talent leaders in science and technology, support for the entrepreneurship talents with technological innovation, construction of the innovation teams in key fields, and establishment of demonstration base for cultivating high quality innovative talents. This plan is carried out by the Ministry of Science and Technology and other relevant departments under the guidance of the Central Coordination Group.
Among them, the plan of Young and Middle-aged Innovative Talent Leaders of Science and Technologyaims at frontier of science and technology and emerging strategic industries in the world, with focuses on training and supporting 3,000 young and middle-aged scientific and technological innovation talents. 4 people from SCUT, including HUANG Fei from School of Materials Science and Engineering have been elected to join this talent plan since 2012
