On 3rd June, “South China University of Technology – The University of Akron: Bilateral Symposium on Polymer Science” was held in School of Materials Science and Engineering ( hereinafter referred to as SMSE), SCUT. Scholars from College of Polymer Science and Engineering, University of Akron, and scholars from polymer disciplines of SCUT gave reports at the Symposium. Various aspects of polymer science have been covered at this Symposium, including polymer chemistry, polymer physics, functional polymeric materials, polymer optoelectronic materials, polymer processing, etc. The talks fully displayed the latest research frontiers on polymer science, and indicated future research directions.

Aiming at promoting academic exchanges between SCUT and the University of Akron, this Symposium helped to strengthen bilateral cooperation in relevant research areas. After the Symposium, one-to-on meetings and lab tours were arranged by SMSE, and a consensus of further scientific cooperation and communication was reached by both sides.
