Abstract: Polymeric materials made from natural compounds can improve the biocompatibility of biomaterials. Natural compounds such as bile acids can be made into useful biomaterials after chemical modifications. Self-healing hydrogels, degradable polymers, shape-memory materials and dental resins will be discussed have been made and are promising in biomedical and pharmaceutical applications.
