On the afternoon of the 2th March, Professor Zhu Xiaoxia from,visited School of Materials Science and Engineering SCUT and gave the teachers and students an brilliant academic report.The title is Making Polymers from Natural Compounds. Many Teachers und students from other Schools also participated in the meeting.

Professor Zhu first introduced to the teachers and students about University of Montreal Canada as well as his main research areas, for example the design and application of biomedical polymer materials synthesis, new drug carrier, NMR spectrum, degradable polymer and so on. The ground work of his laboratory currently is based on acid and its derivatives in natural product synthesis and application of polymer materials, such as the bile acid structure, performance and acid derivatives, modified to prepare pH-sensitive and heat sensitive materials, especially the application in the preparation of acid modified polymer light-cured dental materials. This research result was widely reported around the world.

It is reported that during his academic visitation, Prof. Zhu would like to share the skills and methods in Scientific Paper Writing in English.

Brief introduction to Prof. Zhu

Professor Zhu Xiaoxia in 1988 was doctored in the Department of Chemistry, McGill University. Since 1992, he worked as assistant professor, associate professor, professor in University of Montreal. In 2003 he got the China National Overseas Outstanding Youth Fund. Since 2005 he was the Changjiang Scholar Professor in Nankai University, and currently his also is a member of the Canadian Chemical Society, American Chemical Society, QuebecPolymer Institute. Up to now he has published more than 170 articles in the international academic journals, citation is up to 2600 times and Hirsch index is 26.
