This collection is for the 60th anniversary of the Polymer Program and the Establishment of the State Key Laboratory of Luminescent Materials and Devices in South China University of Technology (SCUT). It collects the recent research in polymer science from the faculties and adjunct professors at the School of Materials Science and Engineering. Polymer research and teaching at SCUT began in the 1950s, and the State Key Laboratory of Luminescent Materials and Devices was officially established in 2014. Today, the polymer program here has grown to over 100 faculties including two members of the Chinese Academy of Science and one member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, three Cheung Kong Chair Professors and eight professors who received China National Funds for Distinguished Young Scientists. Some of them are active in polymer science and engineering as well as luminescent materials and devices.
This collection contains 12 research articles dealing with polymer synthesis, physical chemistry of polymers, biopolymers and luminescent polymers. It does not cover all the polymer fields in SCUT, for example, the developments of polymer materials and engineering are not included, but we do hope that this collection can provide readers with useful information and knowledge and serve as an initiator for the cooperation between SCUT and other polymer societies
