4.8 inch flexible color AMOLED display | | Properties: super-thin and flexible |
On 27th July, the first flexible color AMOLED display was developed under the joint efforts of State Key Laboratory of Luminescent Materials and Devices, South China University of Technology (SCUT) and Guangzhou New Vision Opto-Electronic Technology Co., Ltd. The flexible AMOLED display adopted the Ln-IZO metallic oxide TFT Technology which was independently developed by SCUT. With a size of 4.8 inch and a thickness of 100 micrometers, it weighs less than 1 gram and has achieved color video and image display. This marks the first flexible color AMOLED display in China.
The display is ultrathin, flexible and foldable. Therefore, it has very broad market prospect, and will make groundbreaking influence on people’s life. For instance, it can be made into a curtain. On the daytime, the curtain can be rolled up so that it would not affect natural lighting. At night, the curtain can be used as a TV screen. The flexible display can also make wearable display which can be put in cuff, collar, shoes, or tie, or even make a “human-like display” which people can wear. Besides, since it is light and portable, it can also be used on different kinds of concealment (shrinkage) devices. In the future, any objects around us might become displays.
It is reported that the technology of flexible AMOLED display has earned widespread attention across the world. International enterprises like Samsung, LG, Sharp, AU Optronics, are all making great efforts in developing this technology.
