Alumnus Associate Professor Wang Ergang elected as Wallenberg Academy Fellow

On December 14, the Royal Swedish Academy of sciences and the Wallenberg Foundations announced that 24 young scientists were selected as this year's member of the Wallenberg Academy Fellow, among them was Associate Professor Wang Ergang, from Chalmers University of Technology. He would receive a funding of SEK 12.5 million provided by Wallenberg Foundations and Chalmers University of Technology. 
This fellowship gives me freedom to explore the fields where I believe a solution may exist. It is of course an honour to become a Wallenberg Academy Fellow and a great feeling to finally get it. You should never give up! he says.
Wang Ergang is an alumnus of School of Materials and Engineering, South China University of Technology. He received his Ph. D at SCUT in 2008, then came to Sweden.
The Wallenberg Foundations is the collective name for the public and private foundations funded by individual members of the Wallenberg family. The Foundations grant funding to excellent researchers and research projects beneficial to Sweden, and have since 1917 granted over 28 billion Swedish kronor.
The Foundation supports long-term, free basic research beneficial to Sweden, mainly in medicine, technology, and the natural sciences. This is achieved through long-term grants to excellent researchers and to projects of the highest international standard.
The Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation has during its 100 years awarded SEK 24 billion in grants in support of excellent Swedish research and education. In recent years, grants of SEK 1.7 billion annually have been awarded, making the Foundation one of the largest private funders of scientific research in Europe.
