To standardize the management of foreign teachers and deepen consensus on teaching reform, on September 8, 2026, the School of Foreign Languages of South China University of Technology held the foreign teacher management meeting for the first semester of the 2026–2027 academic year in Meeting Room 204 of Building 22. Xu Ying, Deputy Dean of the School, directors of the departments, and all foreign teachers attended the meeting. The meeting was chaired by Deputy Dean Xu Ying.

At the beginning of the meeting, Deputy Dean Xu Ying delivered a welcome speech on behalf of the School, affirming the preparations all foreign teachers had made for the teaching work of the new semester and expressing gratitude for their long-term contributions to the School's foreign language teaching and internationalized talent cultivation. The meeting noted that foreign teachers are an important part of the School's faculty and are not only transmitters of language knowledge but also bridges connecting Chinese and foreign cultures.

At the meeting, Deputy Dean Xu Ying highlighted the management system for foreign teachers. Regarding the building of teacher ethics and conduct, the meeting noted that teacher ethics and conduct are the primary standard for evaluating the quality of the teaching staff and apply equally to foreign teachers. All foreign teachers are required to strictly abide by Chinese laws and regulations and the university's rules and regulations, uphold professional ethics, adhere to correct orientations in classroom teaching, pay attention to classroom dynamics, and foster a teaching environment that is upright and positive.

With respect to the daily management of foreign teachers, the meeting clarified a number of specific requirements. In terms of exit management, the meeting emphasized that when foreign teachers leave the country during holidays, they must, like Chinese teachers, complete reporting procedures, submit travel plans to the School in advance, and ensure that their itineraries are traceable and their safety is protected. In addition, regarding regulations on foreign teachers' participation in off-campus activities, the meeting clarified the workflow of prior approval and subsequent reporting, emphasizing that during their employment at the university, whether accepting media interviews or participating in activities organized by foreign embassies and consulates in China and other institutions, foreign teachers must complete relevant approval procedures in advance to ensure their personal safety and campus harmony and stability.

In the subsequent teaching discussion session, department directors and foreign teachers engaged in in-depth exchanges on topics such as curriculum reform for the new semester and improvement of teaching quality. Combining this with teaching practice, participants exchanged views on specific issues such as enhancing students' language application abilities, optimizing the all-English teaching environment, and selecting suitable textbooks. The meeting encouraged foreign teachers to actively participate in extracurricular practical activities such as English corners and multicultural corners to expand students' cross-cultural communication abilities.

The convening of this meeting enabled foreign teachers to further clarify the university's rules and regulations and the priorities of the new semester, and effectively strengthened communication and collaboration between Chinese and foreign teachers. The School of Foreign Languages will take this meeting as an opportunity to continuously optimize the management mechanism for foreign teachers, focus on improving teaching quality and meeting students' development needs, and push the School's level of internationalized education to a new level.
