From May 14 to 17, 2026, the Beijing International Model United Nations (BIMUN) conference, hosted by China Foreign Affairs University, was held in Beijing. Our university formed a delegation to compete, with members including Lin Jiayi, a 2023 undergraduate student from the School of Biomedical Sciences and Engineering; Xing Yun, a 2023 undergraduate student from the School of Automation Science and Engineering; Yu Lihao, a 2025 master's student from the School of Public Administration; and Zhang Yiou, a 2025 undergraduate student from the School of Economics and Finance. The event was coordinated by the International Organizations System of the School of Foreign Languages, which also provided academic guidance throughout.

During the conference, our university's delegates actively participated in exchanges and consultations, position statements, document drafting, and other segments, demonstrating the comprehensive qualities and critical thinking abilities of SCUT students in engaging in global governance and shouldering the mission of youth. With solid professional competence and outstanding on-site performance, Lin Jiayi won the Outstanding Delegate Award.

The Beijing International Model United Nations is one of the highest-level and most influential Model United Nations events in China. The conference has long received support and guidance from units such as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Education, the Communist Youth League Central Committee, the United Nations Association of China, and the United Nations system in China. United Nations Secretary-General Guterres sent a congratulatory letter to this conference. With the theme of New Thoughts of Youth on Global Governance, this year's conference attracted more than 700 teachers and students from over 170 schools in more than 30 countries and regions, building a high-level platform for young students to gain an in-depth understanding of international relations and the operating mechanisms of the United Nations.

In recent years, South China University of Technology has actively promoted the cultivation of talents for international organizations in science and engineering disciplines, upholding the talent cultivation philosophy of value guidance, science and engineering empowerment, and think-tank driven, and building a four-in-one talent cultivation mechanism of university think tank + practice base + research center + teaching platform. It has created distinctive international organization practical training brands such as the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Youth Talent Training Camp for International Organizations and the South China University of Technology Model United Nations Conference, and has invited senior United Nations officials, ambassadors stationed abroad, and other seasoned experts to teach on campus. The university has won heavyweight awards such as the Best Organization Award of the China National Model United Nations Conference and the Best School Delegation at the Asian International Model United Nations Conference, and has guided students to internships at international organizations such as the United Nations Development Programme, the United Nations Industrial Development Organization, and UNESCO.
