Notice on Organizing Participation in the 2026 "FLTRP · ETIC Cup" "Understanding Contemporary China" National Foreign Language Proficiency Contest – "Four New" Special Competition Campus Selection

To all schools and departments:

In order to thoroughly implement the fundamental mission of fostering virtue and nurturing talents, serve the construction of a leading education nation, promote the deep integration of foreign language education with the development of the Four New disciplines (new engineering, new medical science, new agricultural science, and new liberal arts), and select and cultivate foreign language talents with international vision and interdisciplinary innovation capabilities, our university is now organizing students to participate in the 2026 FLTRP · ETIC Cup Understanding Contemporary China National Foreign Language Proficiency Contest – Four New Special Competition. The campus selection will be conducted in accordance with the provincial competition standards. Relevant matters are notified as follows:

I. Competition Overview

The Four New Special Competition focuses on global issues in the fields of new engineering, new medical science, new agricultural science, and new liberal arts. Participants are required to propose feasible China solutions based on research and present Chinese practices and innovations in a foreign language.


II. Eligibility and Form of Participation

1.Eligibility: Full-time undergraduate and postgraduate students of South China University of Technology.

2.Form of Participation: Individual or team (≤5 members). Each participant may submit only one entry. Cross-university or cross-team participation is strictly prohibited.

3.Supervisors: Each entry must have one supervisor who is a faculty member of the university (not counted as a team member).


III. Campus Selection Content (In Accordance with Provincial Competition Standards)

1.Materials to be submitted: One research report in English, 2,000–3,000 words (excluding abstract and references).

The report must include: a bilingual title (Chinese and English), team member information (school/department + name + student ID + mobile number), abstract, background and research significance, core content of the China solution, research methods and data sources (with citations, e.g., National Bureau of Statistics, World Bank, etc.), expected outcomes, and references.

2.Topic requirements: Focus on real global issues in the fields of new engineering, new medical science, new agricultural science, and new liberal arts (e.g., artificial intelligence, smart healthcare, ecological agriculture, technological archaeology, etc.), and propose feasible China solutions based on thorough research.

3.Quality requirements: Data must be authentic and from authoritative sources, logic clear, language standard, with an awareness of international communication. Submissions must be original works; plagiarism and AI-generated content are prohibited.


IV. Schedule

Registration and report submission deadline: July 10, 2026, 23:59

Campus selection review: Late July 2026 (see notifications in the QQ group)

Provincial and national competitions: See official contest website announcements

VI. Review and Advancement

Entries will be reviewed online by an expert evaluation panel in accordance with provincial competition standards. Outstanding entries will be recommended to advance to the provincial competition, and university-level first, second, and third prizes will be awarded. Advanced entries will only require minor adjustments for the provincial competition.


VII. Other Matters

1.No fees will be charged.

2.Submissions must be original. Violators will be disqualified and subject to university regulations.
