On March 6, 2026, the School of Foreign Languages at South China University of Technology held its new semester foreign teacher management meeting in Conference Room 204, Building 22. The meeting aimed to further standardize foreign teacher management, strengthen the foreign teacher team, and deepen educational and teaching reforms. The meeting was attended by Associate Dean Xu Ying, department heads, and all foreign teachers. The meeting was chaired by Associate Dean Xu Ying.

At the outset of the meeting, Associate Dean Xu Ying welcomed the foreign teachers on behalf of the school, expressing warm greetings for their return to campus for the new semester and heartfelt thanks for their longstanding contributions to the school's foreign language teaching and international talent cultivation. He noted that foreign teachers are an indispensable and important part of the school's faculty, serving not only as imparters of language knowledge but also as bridges connecting Chinese and foreign cultures.

During the meeting, Associate Dean Xu Ying provided a detailed explanation of the Regulations on the Management of Professional Ethics Education for Foreign Teachers. He emphasized that professional ethics are the primary criterion for evaluating the quality of the teaching staff, a standard equally applicable to foreign teachers. He led everyone in studying the relevant documents and required all foreign teachers to strictly abide by Chinese laws and regulations as well as the university's rules and policies, adhere to professional ethics, and respect Chinese public order and customs. Associate Dean Xu Ying pointed out that in classroom teaching, foreign teachers should uphold correct guidance, not only enhancing students' language application abilities but also paying attention to classroom dynamics, ensuring that classroom discussion topics remain positive, and fostering a clean and upright teaching environment.

Regarding the Provisions and Procedures for Foreign Teachers' Participation in Off-Campus Activities, Associate Dean Xu Ying provided a detailed interpretation. He emphasized that while working at the university, foreign teachers must complete relevant approval and filing procedures in advance, whether for any form of media interviews or for participation in activities organized by foreign embassies and consulates in China, international organizations, or other official institutions. The meeting clarified the approval process for foreign teachers' participation in external activities, requiring approval beforehand and filing afterward to ensure the personal safety of foreign teachers and the harmony and stability of the campus. The school will continue to optimize its services, making every effort to resolve practical difficulties foreign teachers encounter in their work and daily lives, thereby creating a more comfortable and reassuring working environment for everyone.

The subsequent teaching discussion segment was lively and enthusiastic. Department heads and all foreign teachers engaged in in-depth discussions centered on the core theme of New Semester Curriculum Reform. Drawing on their respective teaching practices, they exchanged views on specific issues such as how to improve students' oral expression skills, optimize the English-medium teaching environment, select appropriate teaching materials, and construct multi-dimensional quality standards integrating curriculum and practice. The meeting encouraged foreign teachers to actively engage in practical teaching components and participate in extracurricular activities such as English Corners and Multicultural Corners to expand students' cross-cultural communication skills. Through these exchanges, the Chinese and foreign teaching teams reached multiple consensus points on differentiated teaching strategies and modular curriculum restructuring.

This meeting not only further clarified the university's rules and regulations and the key priorities for the new semester for the foreign teachers but also effectively strengthened communication and collaboration between Chinese and foreign teachers. The School of Foreign Languages will take this meeting as an opportunity to continuously optimize its foreign teacher management mechanisms, focus on improving teaching quality and addressing student development needs, and elevate the school's international education standards to a new level.
