On January 13, a delegation led by Professor Zhan Shuangjuan, Associate Dean of our Institute, conducted a specialized research visit to the School of International Governance Innovation at Guangdong University of Foreign Studies (GDUFS). The delegation included Chen Yanyan, Director of the Institute's Research Base Management Center; Wang Yujing, Head of the International Organizations Department; and key faculty members He Wenjun and Ma Yanfei. Professor Zhao Longyue, Dean of the School of International Governance Innovation at GDUFS, hosted the delegation and chaired a symposium. Also attending the exchange were Li Yuehan, Director of the School's Administration Office, and He Yanhui, a core faculty member. The research visit aimed to benchmark the advanced experiences of peer institutions, further broaden work perspectives, and promote high-quality development in our Institute's international organization talent cultivation and disciplinary construction.

During the symposium, Associate Dean Zhan Shuangjuan introduced our Institute's recent explorations in serving national strategies and cultivating top-tier innovative talents. She highlighted the ongoing development of our Institute's proposed undergraduate program in International Organizations and Global Governance, detailing our practical efforts in building the professional curriculum system and exploring training models. Dean Zhao Longyue shared the innovative measures and achievements of GDUFS's School of International Governance Innovation in areas such as establishing interdisciplinary curriculum systems, developing international organization internship bases, conducting cutting-edge research on global governance, and advancing high-level international cooperation projects. He particularly emphasized the school's Five-in-One talent cultivation model.

During the symposium, both sides engaged in constructive discussions on key issues related to the cultivation and development of international organization talents. These discussions included optimizing interdisciplinary course offerings, exploring precise alignment between practical teaching and the needs of international organizations, mechanisms for attracting and sharing high-level faculty resources, and improving support systems for student overseas exchanges and international internships. Both parties will leverage their respective strengths to carry out practical cooperation in areas such as curriculum reform, faculty-student exchanges, overseas internships, and international activities, jointly promoting the high-quality development of international organization talent cultivation.

In recent years, our Institute has focused on nurturing internationally-oriented talents at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, continuously advancing the Tri-Nation Action Plan and strategically integrating talent cultivation with national needs. The proposed undergraduate program in International Organizations and Global Governance, spearheaded by our Institute, leverages the geographical advantages of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area to address the urgent demand for internationally-oriented talents with backgrounds in science and engineering within global governance. Building upon the Greater Bay Area's strengths in global innovation and international exchanges, the program targets the structural demand for interdisciplinary talents combining technical expertise and global governance skills. It aims to cultivate top-tier talents equipped with both cross-cultural negotiation abilities and technical proficiency. The cultivation philosophy is Value-led, Engineering-empowered, Think Tank-driven, establishing a Four-in-One collaborative education system comprising University Think Tanks + Practice Bases + Research Centers + Teaching Platforms. The Institute is also preparing to establish an Excellence University Alliance Joint Conference and has created brand practical training platforms such as the Greater Bay Area International Organization Youth Training Camp and an on-campus Model United Nations. It has jointly established training bases with international organizations including UNESCO and the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR). The university has consecutively offered four sessions of related micro-programs and has published textbooks such as Comprehensive English for International Organizations. Over the past five years, it has sent more than 50 students and personnel to internships and positions at organizations including the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

Moving forward, our Institute will continue to deepen cooperation with peer universities, serve national strategic needs, and remain committed to cultivating more young talents with international perspectives and research capabilities.
