The Faculty of Arts, Business, Law and Education at UWA has long been favored by students for its diverse, high-quality academic programs and practical opportunities. South China University of Technology, School of Foreign LanguagesThe School of Foreign Languages at South China University of Technology (SCUT) was established in 2002. Its predecessor was the Foreign Languages Teaching and Research Section founded in 1952 and the Foreign Languages Department established in 1985 at the South China Institute of Technology. The school began enrolling undergraduate students in 1988, was approved for a Master's degree program in 1991, authorized for a first-level discipline Master's program in Foreign Language and Literature in 2006, added a Master of Translation and Interpreting (MTI) professional degree program in 2010, approved for a first-level discipline Doctoral program in Foreign Language and Literature in 2021, and established a Postdoctoral Research Mobile Station in Foreign Language and Literature in 2023. It has now formed a complete integrated talent cultivation system encompassing Bachelor's, Master's, and Doctoral programs. The school's academic research covers multiple directions including Foreign Linguistics and Applied Linguistics, Foreign Literature, Cross-cultural and Translation Studies, and Area Studies. It has also established research platforms such as the Indian Ocean Island Countries Research Center and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Global Governance and International Organizations Research Center. In the 2020-2023 Soft Science Ranking of China's Best Disciplines, the first-level discipline of Foreign Language and Literature consistently ranks within the top 20% nationally. Program Introduction

Program Model3+2 Integrated Master's Program in Translation Studies: Students from relevant Bachelor of Arts programs at SCUT will study at SCUT for the first three years and proceed to UWA for the fourth and fifth years. Upon completion, if they meet the graduation and degree conferment requirements of both universities, they will receive a Bachelor of Arts degree and undergraduate graduation certificate from SCUT, and a Master of Translation Studies degree certificate from UWA.

Target Students

Current first-year to third-year undergraduate students enrolled in Bachelor of Arts programs at SCUT.


Application Requirements

An average score of no less than 72 for the three-year undergraduate courses completed at SCUT; IELTS overall band score of 6.5 with no individual band below 6.0. Students not meeting this language requirement can enroll in Academic English courses at UWA's Language Centre.
