In order to thoroughly implement the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, fulfill the fundamental task of fostering virtue through education, deepen the reform of foreign language education in higher education institutions, enhance the quality of independently cultivating foreign language talents, cultivate high-caliber international communication talents, contribute to elevating China's international influence, appeal, and shaping power, advance high-standard opening-up, promote exchanges and mutual learning among civilizations, and actively contribute to building a community with a shared future for mankind, with guidance and support from higher-level competent authorities, Beijing Foreign Studies University will hold the 2024 FLTRP · Guocai Cup Understanding Contemporary China National Foreign Language Competence Competition for College Students (hereinafter referred to as the Competition) from April to December 2024.

This competition is included in the list of competitions for college students in China's regular higher education institutions. Our university will organize students to participate in this event. Relevant matters regarding the application are hereby notified as follows:

I. Participants

Full-time undergraduate and postgraduate students currently enrolled in our university, including international students studying in China.

II. Competition Structure

Our university will organize participation in the English language group competition. The competition follows a three-tier structure: University-level Preliminary (University Competition), Provincial-level (Provincial Competition), and National Final (National Competition). The English language group includes three main categories: International Communication Comprehensive Competence (subdivided into Comprehensive Competence and Public Speaking), Translation (subdivided into Written Translation and Interpretation), and Short Video.

*Note: Previous winners of the national championship, first runner-up, and second runner-up in any language or category of the FLTRP · Guocai Cup Understanding Contemporary China National Foreign Language Competence Competition for College Students are not eligible to participate again in that same language and category.

III. Application Method

All participants must register and apply through the official competition website (https://ucc.fltrp.com). There is no application fee.

IV. Competition Schedule

University Competition: Organized by the School of Foreign Studies of our university. Please refer to the QR code above for the specific schedule of each category.

Provincial Competition: October to November (excluding the Short Video category). Participation is organized and applied for by the university as a unit. Hosted by the Department of Education of Guangdong Province and undertaken by Beijing Normal University-Hong Kong Baptist University United International College.

National Competition: November to December. Hosted by Beijing Foreign Studies University and organized by Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press.
