In order to implement the fundamental task of fostering virtue through education, cultivate well-rounded internationalized talents with Chinese sentiment, global vision, professional competence, intercultural communication skills, and global competency; enhance mutual understanding among different ethnicities and nations; promote the global dissemination of Chinese culture; deepen exchanges and mutual learning among human civilizations; and advance world peace and development, our university will now hold the on-campus selection for the 7th SFLEP Cup National College Students’ Intercultural Competence Contest, based on our university's specific circumstances.
This contest was newly added to the Ranking List of University Student Competitions by the China Association of Higher Education in March 2023 and is one of the significant competitions in the foreign language discipline category. The event comprises three stages: university-level, provincial-level (semi-finals & finals), and national-level (finals & grand finals). The details regarding the on-campus selection are hereby notified as follows:

II. Participants
Chinese Undergraduate Student Category:
Participants must be Chinese citizens, full-time undergraduate students currently enrolled in higher education institutions (postgraduate students are not eligible), regardless of major or grade.
Teams compete in groups of 3 students. Teams composed of students from different disciplines/majors are encouraged. Each team may include no more than 1 student majoring in English-related fields. Forming teams across different universities is not allowed. Each team may have up to 3 faculty advisors.
International Student Category:
Participants must be non-Chinese citizens who received their elementary and secondary education abroad, whose native language (and that of their parents) is not Chinese, and who are currently enrolled full-time in a higher education institution in China.
Teams compete in groups of 3 students. Teams composed of students from different disciplines/majors are encouraged. Forming teams across different universities is not allowed. Each team may have up to 3 faculty advisors.
Members of teams who have won first prize or higher in the national-level competition are not eligible to participate again.
III. Contest Languages
Chinese Undergraduate Student Category: English. Case studies must be written in English, with a limited amount of explanatory Chinese permitted.
International Student Category: Chinese. Case studies must be written in Chinese, with a limited amount of explanatory English permitted.
IV. Format and Requirements for University-Level Competition
The on-campus selection will be conducted via video evaluation. Participants, under the guidance of their advisors, will record and submit a video on Intercultural Communication Case Development and Analysis according to the contest requirements to the designated email address of our university's organizing committee. Judges will evaluate submissions based on established criteria. Requirements are as follows:
Case Development:Teams must select one theme from the following: Multicultural Life, Public Diplomacy, or Business Communication. Based on the team members' own experiences, observations, or readings, they should independently develop an original intercultural communication case related to the chosen theme. Direct copying or imitation of film/TV works is prohibited.
Case Presentation:Team members must present the case on-site. The presentation format is flexible (e.g., short skit performance, interview, etc.) but should be natural, reasonable, and vividly and clearly demonstrate the case content.
Case Analysis:Teams must analyze the intercultural phenomena and issues in the case using relevant concepts and theories of intercultural communication.
Time Limit:The total time for case presentation and analysis is 10 minutes, with a minimum of 8 minutes.
Video Production Requirements:
The video must be a single, complete, continuous, and unedited recording that genuinely reflects the live presentation and analysis process. Videos that are spliced or heavily edited from multiple recordings will be deemed invalid, resulting in disqualification.
The video should have clear and stable visuals, reasonable composition, and clear audio.
The opening segment should not exceed 5 seconds and must include content such as the theme and background. To ensure fairness in the judging process, the video must not contain any information related to the production team, the university name, or the contestants in any part of the video.
The video must include subtitles.
Recommended video size and format: MP4 or other common video formats. File size should not exceed 3GB.

Email Body: Must specify School, Major, Name, Student ID, Mobile Number (e.g., School of Foreign Studies, Business English Major, Zhang San, 202310010012, 12345678912).
VI. Awards
Each category will have several first, second, and third prizes. Faculty advisors will receive corresponding Outstanding Advisor awards matching their students' prize levels. The first-place team will represent the university in the Guangdong Provincial semi-finals.
