On the morning of March 29, Zhu Xianlong, Dean of the School of Foreign Languages, delivered an ideological and political lesson to doctoral students from the class of 2022 and 2023, titled Building a Human Community with a Shared Future. This thought-provoking and academically rigorous lecture explored the necessity, pathways, and supporting forces behind this vision.

Drawing upon the profound and extensive heritage of China's fine traditional culture, Zhu began with the philosophical concept of harmony between humanity and nature, following the laws of nature. He systematically elaborated on the necessity, pathways, and supporting forces for promoting the building of a human community with a shared future, emphasizing that advancing this vision is an essential requirement for Chinese modernization. He highlighted that universities, in their practical implementation of this concept, bear the significant mission of cultivating high-quality international talent.

Zhu pointed out that foreign language disciplines play a crucial supporting role in enriching China’s discourse system and enhancing its discursive confidence. He called upon all doctoral students, under the strong leadership of the Party, to fully leverage their professional expertise and take it as their responsibility to tell China’s stories well and amplify its voice, contributing their youthful wisdom and talent to advancing the building of a human community with a shared future.

In a world undergoing profound changes unseen in a century, Zhu encouraged doctoral students to accurately understand the global and domestic development trends. He urged them to demonstrate courage and determination in the new journey of building a strong nation and promoting a human community with a shared future, closely integrating their academic research with national strategic needs. He emphasized the importance of being visionary, proactive, and effective, leveraging their professional expertise to empower personal growth and become strivers and trailblazers of the new era.
