Strategic Positioning

The Global Governance and International Organizations Research Center of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area is dedicated to supporting the national strategic needs of building a community with a shared future for mankind and promoting global governance reform. Leveraging the strengths of the Indian Ocean Island Countries Research Center—a high-level institution for regional and country studies recognized by the Ministry of Education—and the Innovation Practice Base for Cultivating High-Level International Talent, also under the Ministry of Education, the center is committed to advancing research and talent development in global governance and international organizations. It aims to become a nationally and internationally influential and well-known research hub in these fields.

Research Areas

Guided by the core principles of Chinese perspective, global vision, the center integrates fundamental and applied research. Fundamental research focuses on forward-looking and specialized areas, including the theoretical study of the vision of a community with a shared future for mankind and global governance theories, regional and country-specific research on global governance and international organizations, exploration of China’s strategies in global governance, and studies on global ocean governance and security. This research provides references and recommendations for the scientific decision-making and effective governance of the Party and the government.

Applied research concentrates on building multilingual capabilities for international organization talent, mapping competencies in global governance and international organizations, cultivating and supplying talent for international organizations, and developing and applying digital-intelligent platforms for international organizations. These efforts aim to foster deep integration of government, industry, academia, research, and application in global governance and international organizations.
