Notice on Participating in the 2025 CATTI Cup National Translation Competition

To all departments:


In order to implement the relevant guidelines from central authorities on strengthening the development of the translation talent pool, enhance cultural exchange and cooperation between China and other countries, encourage the use of foreign languages to tell China's stories, identify more outstanding translation talents through competitions, improve China's international communication capabilities, strengthen cultural exchanges among youth from China and abroad, and cultivate a specialized talent pool that meets the needs of international communication in the new era, it has been approved that the School of Foreign Languages will organize participation in the CATTI Cup National Translation Competition. This competition is jointly hosted by the National Committee for Master of Translation and Interpreting Education and the Academy of Translation, China International Communications Group. The relevant details are hereby notified as follows:


I. Participants

All currently enrolled students of the university.


II. Competition Languages and Categories

Languages: English, Japanese, Korean, Russian, French, German, Spanish, Arabic

Categories: Translation (written) and Interpreting (oral)

  • Translation is offered in all eight languages.

  • Interpreting is offered in English, Japanese, and Korean.

IV. Competition Schedule

The competition consists of preliminary and final rounds. The top 30% of participants in the preliminary round will advance to the finals.

(1) Registration Period

From now until October 17, 2025

(2) Preliminary Round

October 25–26, 2025

(3) Final Round

November 15–16, 2025

(4) Competition Format

The competition will be conducted online in principle, with participants taking the exam remotely from home. Schools or institutions with adequate conditions may apply to the organizing committee to organize centralized online exams.


V. Fees

In accordance with the principle of covering expenses through collected fees, the competition charges a technical service fee of 48 yuan per entry to cover costs such as question design, evaluation, system development, and technical maintenance. Participants who advance from the preliminary to the final round will not be charged an additional fee.

The university will not collect any fees on behalf of the competition nor charge any additional fees.
