Recently, Guangdong Provincial Department of Education announced the 2020 Guangdong Graduate Education Innovation Project. The MTI Training Base jointly built by the MTI Education Center of our college and Xuefu Translation Co., Ltd. was successfully approved as the Guangdong Provincial Joint Training Demonstration Base for postgraduate students. The approval of the base is of great significance to improve the level of school-enterprise cooperation education and the quality of talent training in our college.
In recent years, MTI Education Center has actively explored the reform and innovation of the training mode for professional degree postgraduates. Guided by the cultivation of professional ability and practical ability, MTI Education Center has continuously optimized the training program of MTI, actively connected with the needs of the university’s dominant disciplines, and built a characteristic curriculum system of translation practice. Besides, the center has vigorously promoted the MTI dual-tutor system (On and Off Campus), and built an industry-university-research cooperation platform by relying on various ways such as “Industry Experts Go on Stage Program”. Also, the center pays attention to the combination of professional cultivation and professional certification, connects MTI talent training with translation professional qualification (level) certificate, and strives to improve students’ professional quality. In addition, the center also organically combines discipline knowledge with industry needs, adheres to the reform orientation of practicality, professionalism, operability and application, and creates a “four-in-one” training mode for postgraduate students of professional master’s degree in translation, which focuses on the four dimensions of curriculum, professional quality, practice and dissertation.
Taking the opportunity of the approval of provincial training demonstration base for postgraduate students, the center will continue to expand the path of university-enterprise cooperation and collaborative education for postgraduate students with professional degree, and further standardize practical assessment and process management, and improve the training quality assurance system. Furthermore, it will construct a long-term mechanism of university-enterprise cooperation by complementary advantages, resource sharing, mutual benefit and win-win and collaborative innovation. Also, it will cultivate high-level, applied and professional translation talents who adapt to the needs of national economic, cultural and social construction.
