In order to thoroughly implement The Guiding Outline for Ideological and Political Construction in Curriculum of Colleges and Universities from the Ministry of education and The “Four Key Points” Pilot Implementation Plan for Ideological and Political Construction in Curriculum in South China University of Technology, accelerate the ideological and political construction in curriculum, give full play to the educational role of each course, and comprehensively improve the quality of undergraduate talent cultivation, the application of ideological and political demonstration courses and demonstration teams in undergraduate curriculum was launched in the middle of June. Our school of foreign language puts high premium on and actively participates in it by seriously building multiple teaching teams and organizing various courses. Recently, after the review of the university’s expert group, our school has received approval of two demonstration teams and one school-level demonstration course for ideological and political construction in curriculum.

Our school has always attached great importance to ideological and political construction in curriculum. It was in the first half of 2019 that we began deploying the work of ideological and political construction in curriculum. During the education themed “Stay true to our original aspiration and Keep our Mission firmly in mind” in the second half of 2019, our school carried out research around the focus of ideological and political construction in curriculum, bringing the research report named “Comprehensively Strengthening Moral Education and Effectively Cultivating People; Promoting and Deepening the Ideological and political Construction in Foreign Language Courses”. After that, we actively implemented The “Four Key Points” Pilot Implementation Plan and promoted ideological and political construction in curriculum by selecting pilot courses. At the same time, various departments also carried out various activities for the ideological and political construction successively, such as course observation, seminar, discussion of the design of ideological and political elements in courses and experience sharing on excellent course, with an aim to strengthen the awareness of all teachers of the school to cultivate morality and people, and promote the reform and practice of ideological and political teaching in all undergraduate courses of the school.
The Business English teaching team and College English public teaching team, which received approval this time, have formed a relatively mature system for ideological and political construction in curriculum. The two teams have constructed an effective and reasonable system based on their different positioning, specific objectives of talent training and characteristics of ability composition. The objectives of each course in the team are clear and the ideological and political elements are rich. The ideological and political education and professional knowledge system education are organically unified through the combination of explicit and implicit methods, which gives full play to the value and elements of ideological and political education contained in the language and culture major, and promotes the deep integration of the relevant majors, courses and social, cultural, ideological and political education in our school.
Basic Japanese, the approved demonstration course, is a pilot course of ideological and political construction in our college. Peng Qingxia, a Japanese teacher in our school who gives full play to the critical role of classroom teaching and the exemplary role of this course, shares her valuable experience of ideological and political education in the course, and leads other courses of the school to continuously promote the ideological and political construction in curriculum.
