In order to deepen the reform of graduate education, promote the connotative development of graduate education, and comprehensively improve the quality of talent training, Wang Jun, executive Vice Dean of the Graduate School, and his delegation paid a special visit to the School of Foreign Languages on the morning of March 27th. All the leaders of the school, the director of the Graduate Teaching Department and the director of the English Teaching Department of non-English majors etc. attended the discussion.

     The leaders of the school reported the overall situation of postgraduate training and subject construction in detail, elaborated the training ideas of different types of training, interdisciplinary training and international training, and analyzed the main difficulties in the current work. In recent years, the school has taken talent cultivation as the fundamental and the construction of degree program as the core, fully exploited internal advantages, integrated limited resources, made up for shortcomings, strengthened disciplines, and adhered to the spirit of high responsibility and never slack off. Under the unfavorable conditions of poverty and weakness, it has continuously cultivated high-quality graduates. Breakthroughs and progress have been made in the construction of landmark achievements such as major research awards and major research projects. The lack of doctorate program in first-level disciplines has become a bottleneck restricting the development of foreign language disciplines. The school urgently hopes that the university can make overall consideration and give policy preference and support.

Wang Jun pointed out that the School of Foreign Languages has a strong determination to develop, a clear orientation, proper measures, solid work, strong teaching ability and good teaching quality, and makes remarkable achievements and progress in various work. He stressed that in the current situation of fierce competition, the construction of degree program should find the right starting point and build a solid foundation, and talent training should maintain personality, prominent characteristics, to achieve high-quality connotation development. He said that the Graduate School will strengthen overall planning, coordinate and communicate with the university's functional departments, actively provide guidance and support, and timely solve the outstanding problems responded by schools.

The current online teaching of graduate students and existing problems, the follow-up training schedule, the reform measures, achievements, problems and suggestions in the process of graduate training, the construction of liberal arts base, the survey of graduates, the revision of academic achievements, and the construction of on campus tutors and off campus part-time tutors, the problems and suggestions of the award system have been fully exchanged, which will play a positive role in promoting the talent cultivation and discipline construction of School of Foreign Languages.
