The "Continuation and Foreign Language Teaching" team endeavors to share the latest research works

On December 29th, 2019, Professor Yang Mei of English Department of our college led the research team of Continuation and Foreign Language Teaching to participate in the Continuation Seminar. With the theme of Continuation and its application in foreign language or second language teaching, this seminar was organized by the Center for Linguistics and Applied Linguistics of Guangdong University of Foreign Studies. On the basis of the continuation proposed by Professor Wang Chuming, a well-known applied linguist in China, and combining with the fundamental problems of foreign language learning and teaching, this conference deeply explored the effective ways to promote the development of effective foreign language teaching theory and the innovation of teaching methods in China.

At the conference, Professor Wang Chuming who is the president of Chinese Second Language Acquisition Research Association from Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, Professor Yang Lianrui from Ocean University of China, Professor Yang Mei from South China University of Technology, Professor Zhang Sumin of Hebei Normal University and Professor Ren Wei of Beihang University gave speeches to share the latest theoretical views and research works. Foreign language teachers and doctoral students from a large number of domestic universities took part in the seminar and actively participated in the dialogue, which spurred the meeting well received.

Conference Spot

     Professor Yang Mei made a keynote speech entitled Continuation and Foreign Language Teaching Research at the meeting, focusing on the continuation and second language development research, foreign language teaching research based on continuation (XBI), continuation and translation teaching research. In the speech, she called for paying key focus to promote the theoretical construction and practical application of continuation aiming at the needs of developing foreign language teaching theory in the new era of China. Experts and teachers there showed great interest in this research, and expected to strengthening cooperation with our school so as to promote the progress of foreign language teaching theory and teaching model with Chinese characteristics.

The seminar provided opportunities for teachers and students to interact with their domestic counterparts at close range, simultaneously enhanced the influence of continuation and foreign language teaching research in our school, which not only conduced to promoting the spread of the continuation, but also contributed to carrying out in-depth research on foreign language teaching in our school.
