On October 30th, 2019, the third Excellence 9 high-level forum for presidents of foreign languages colleges and universities was held in the conference room of foreign languages college of Dalian University of Technology. The forum was hosted by the School of Foreign Languages, Dalian University of Technology, and the deans, experts and scholars of the School of Foreign Languages from universities of Excellent University Alliance attended the meeting. Professor Zhong Shuneng, dean of our college, was invited to attend the forum and give a keynote speech. Professor Zhu Xianlong, vice president, Associate Professor Deng Renhua, director of postgraduate teaching department, and Associate Professor Liu Xiqin, deputy director of English department participated in related activities of the forum.

This forum focused on the reform and development of public foreign language teaching, the theory and practice of new liberal arts development for foreign language majors in the new era, and the progress of first-class foreign language majors with the theme of Double First-Class Initiativedevelopment. The deans of foreign languages colleges of 8 universities, including South China University of Technology, Dalian University of Technology, Beijing Institute of Technology, Chongqing University, Southeast University, Harbin Institute of Technology, Tianjin University and Tongji University, respectively introduced the latest progress, problems and challenges faced by their respective colleges. In his keynote speech, President Zhong Shuneng indicated the development path of foreign language disciplines in science and engineering colleges and put forward some suggestions and measures to promote the development of foreign language discipline.
The Excellence 9 Forum for Presidents of Foreign Languages Colleges of Universities has set up a high-level communication platform for foreign languages colleges of science and engineering universities, and further promoted the communication and exchange between colleges and the high-level development of foreign language disciplines.
