On November 16th, the General Education Section of the College English Team successfully held the excellent teaching demonstration class and teaching salon of Chinese Cultural English Speaking and Zhuangzi Fables and Their Wisdom in Wushan Campus. The teacher of the course group, Ruan Xichun, gave a wonderful mixed teaching demonstration lesson based on SPOC. Ruan carefully designed a quality course with high curriculum quality and learning validity, providing an excellent model for the mixed teaching assistance quality course.

Subsequently, Associate Professor Zhou Pindi, deputy director of College English Teaching Department of Foreign Languages School, gave a keynote speech based on Approaches and Direction of Mixed Teaching Practice-the Development of Quality Courses, further elaborated the theory and ways of online and offline mixed quality courses construction, and made clear the direction for further developing sophisticated general quality courses.
In recent years, the College English General Education Section of the School took the lead in carrying out the mixed teaching practice based on massive open online course/private broadcasting, and successively opened four massive open online course courses of Music and Culture in English, Movies and Culture in English, Business English and Zhuangzi Fables and Their Wisdom on the domestic mainstream massive open online course platform, with more than 50,000 learners worldwide. Massive open online course's Music and Culture in English and Zhuangzi Fables and Their Wisdom were introduced by Higher Education Press, and promoted by massive open online course as credits in colleges and universities across the country. In 2018, the course became the first team of South China University of Technology to win the National Excellent Online Open Course, and also the first foreign language course in Guangdong Province to win this honor.
This teaching salon attracted a special visit from a group of seven teachers, including Zhang Jing, Dean of the School of Foreign Languages, Gannan Normal University, and teachers interested in mixed teaching also actively participated in it. At the meeting, teachers discussed in groups how to effectively promote Chinese culture, spread China's soft power and build new liberal arts through the online and offline mixed mode, which further stimulated teachers’ enthusiasm for mixed teaching.
