An employment mobilization meeting for graduates was held in Room 212, Boxue Building on the afternoon of August 29, 2019. The meeting was co-chaired by Zhu Xianlong, Vice-Dean of SFL and Zhao Shuidong, Deputy Party Secretary of SFL. All graduate students attended the meeting.
Zhu Xianlong, Vice-Dean of Foreign Languages first delivered a speech and he reminded graduate students to cherish their last academic year, to make personal arrangement plans and balance the relationship between study and career. He also emphasized that since thesis writing requires painstaking and systematic efforts, graduate students should properly arrange the time for thesis writing, strengthen communication with tutors, and modestly accept their tutors’ advice while putting forward personal ideas. Dean Zhu specifically mentioned the reference time node and format specification of thesis writing. In order to ensure the smooth submission of thesis in the spring of next year, it is recommended that graduate students complete the final draft of the thesis before the end of this year.

Zhao Shuidong, Deputy Secretary of SFL, pointed out that under the premise of meeting the graduation requirements, graduate students should also actively pay attention to job-seeking and employment. Taking the job-seeking experience of previous graduates as an example, Secretary Zhao introduced the matters needing attention and methods and skills in the job-seeking process, and suggested that students should choose the most suitable industry and post according to their own actual situation, including personal interests, personality characteristics, geographical inclination and other factors. In face of careers, students ought to broaden their horizons and clarify their direction. Direction is the beacon of navigation, which will help graduates embark on their journey to seek career and encourage them to combine personal development with national development to realize the value of life in the place where the motherland needs it most. The road to employment is not easy but perseverance will pay off. In the end of the meeting, Secretary Zhao emphasized that the body is the capital of the revolution, and he expressed his hope that students reasonably work and rest, strengthen exercise, and embrace a bright future with a relaxed mental and physical state.

After the meeting, students consulted the two teachers in detail about their doubts about thesis writing and job hunting. On the occasion of building a moderately prosperous society in all respects, it is believed that students will not forget their original aspirations, continue to consolidate their professional skills, keep in mind the responsibility and mission of youth, and start a new journey in the tide of the times.
